Iligan
City – Pastor Ramo Tenorio, Jr., 70 years old, hailed from Masbate and settled in Iligan in the early 70s. He was popularly called by his friends “Jun T”
because plenty of nicknamed “Jun” from friends around to spare his
identity. “Jun T” died suffering from severe illness on diabetes on April 28,
2017 at exactly 11:00 P.M. at the Adventist hospital, Tibanga, Iligan City.
“Jun T” was
a labor leader, human rights activist, a media man, Civil Society leader, a
partidista and federalista. He is a man of dreaming for change to uplift the
Filipino people from dire poverty and the country’s underdevelopment.
“Jun T”
was one of the victims of human rights violations during the martial law years
under the Marcos regime. He was jailed for almost a year in 1972-73 for being
an activist against the imposition of martial law. He was one of the originals
of the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP LABAN) organized in
1983 headed by former Senator Nene Pimentel of Cagayan de Oro with other
originals such as former Senator Santanina Rasul, Tony Cuenco of Cebu, former Senaror Tito Guingona, Mayor
Duterte of Davao now the President of the Republic of the Philippines, former President Cory Aquino and many others.
“Jun T” was a former Barangay Councilor of Barangay Poblacion, Iligan City and the President of the Civil Society Organization Forum for Peace (CSO-FP) until
the time of his death.
