Karancho launches fiesta motorcade in Iligan City

KARANCHO officers & members participated the Fiesta motorcade that ended at centennial park, Dalipuga, Iligan City.  
Iligan City - There are at least 300 members of Karancho joined the motorcade from Buru-un to Dalipuga this city, conducted on September 25, 2016 to separately celebrate the Iligan City fiesta of Patron St. Michael the Archangel. The motorcade was participated with a hundred single motorcycles and few four wheel vehicles.

The most significant route of the motorcade was traversing the major streets at the heart of Iligan City before proceeding to Barangay Dalipuga. During the program at the centennial park in Dalipuga, a short program was conducted and invited this writer and observed that the conduct of activities will show the active participation of members and strengthen the organization. Also invited was iligan City Councilor Samuel Huertas in his message said that Karancho should apply accreditation to the City government through the Sangguniang Panglunsod to participate in the local special bodies such as the peace and order council, city development council, among others. 

Karancho has an active membership numbering to at least 800 individuals and still increasing its number. The Karancho has an active participation of the ongoing Diyandi Festival 2016 activities especially on the “Pakanaog ni Sr. San Miguel”, the lowering of the image of St. Michael on September 20 served as the main marshall, monitoring the Sayaw Saulog-street dancing competition on September 27 through radio reporting, and the actual fiesta celebration of St. Michael on September 29, 2016 as main marshall of the procession.

Karancho is committed to actively and continuously perform activities for peace, security and development beyond the Diyandi festival and actively supports the program of the local government in terms of peace and development in every chapter in Iligan City and Lanao del Norte districts. The Karancho group was recognized by the Tourism office, the Committee on Diyandi festival 2016, the Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) and the Church leaders of the St. Michael’s Cathedral.     

Iligan City lone district Chairman Jong Jarilla expressed his thanks and appreciation to the members actively participated in the motorcade was a sign of strong camaraderie and brotherhood among the members of the organization. He said that many of the people in the community are now express their interest to join the membership of Karancho in Iligan City and Lanao del Norte by showing the good image of the organization that needed to be maintained.

On September 24, a basic media orientation for volunteer reporters was conducted at Sto. Rosario, Iligan City. Participants are the Karancho chapter officers in Iligan City district. The purpose of the orientation was to provide the participants on the basic knowledge of radio reporting including the script writing. This writer gave the orientation on topics about the brief overview and concept on journalism including its characteristics and categories. The participants conducted a brief workshop on script writing technique based on the five Ws and one H to form questions in order to make a news story. There were about 20 participants attended the orientation ended successfully and will volunteer soon to be a radio reporter based on their capacity and interest.
