ILIGAN CITY - The Iligan Chamber of Commerce of Iligan City, headed by Ms. Reggie Punongbayan, hosted the Mindanao Power Summit held 30-31 May at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology. There were about 13 resolutions created and passed during the summit which was read by Ms. Punongbayan and approved by the summit participants.
1. Urging the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to establish and balancing mechanism to protect the interest of the majority of the electricity consumers who will shoulder the stranded costs with the promotion of renewal energy (RE) programs such as metering and distributed energy resource (DER).
2. Requesting his excellency Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, through the Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE) to not pursue the privatization or adoption of a concessionary for the rehabilitation and operation of the existing Agus-Pulangui hydro power complexes (APHC).
3. Urging the concerned national government agencies , local government units, private sector to accelerate development of renewable energy projects in Mindanao.
4. Urging the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to direct the local government units to integrate and underscore to emphasize the renewable energy (RE) investments in their PDPFPs, CLUPs, CDPS, and corresponding investment plans/programs.
