Marawi City- Three (3) members of Dawlah Islamiya-Maute Group (DI-MG), a terrorist group surrendered and lay down their firearms to the Joint Task Group (JTG HARIBON), Kampo Ranao, Marawi City Tuesday morning February 15, 2022. This information was relayed by LTC Palawan D. Miondas (INF) PA, Civil-Military Officer (CMO) of 103 Brigade, this city.
Miondas in a press release said that the three (3) surrenderees were identified as Ebra Apil Ibrahim @Brando, 58 years old and his son Munder Ebra Apil @Munder 29 years old, both resident of Barangay Tapurog, Piagapo, Lanao del Sur and a certain Darda Lidasan @Abu Turaypi, 17 years old, resident of Purok 5, Barangay Lininong, Piagapo, Lanao del Sur.
Miondas in a follow-up interview said that the surrenderees were former members of the Moro
Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and most of the reasons why they joined the
terrorist group was the discontentment of the peace initiatives inked by the Government
and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). Miondas said while they were inside the movement of the
terrorist group their lives became more difficult. They lived limited movements socially and nowhere to hide for
their safety, that’s why they decided to better surrender for safety and to
live in peace. The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) government through the presence of MP Macapaar was committed to provide livelihood opportunites and safety for the surrenderees with their families.
The surrendered members of the terrorist group was the result of a joint efforts of JTG HARIBON headed by BGEN JOSE MARIA R CUERPO II PA, Commander, 103rd Brigade; LTC FERNANDO PAYAPAYA INF (GSC) PA, 51IB Commanding Officer; HON. ALI LAWIS SUMANDAR, Municipal vice- mayor of Piagapo, Lanao del Sur; HON. ABDULLAH G. MACAPAAR (former MILF @Commander Bravo), now Member of Parliament, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM); and MILF AHJAG for Peace Mechanism AYOB M USMAN, and LGU of Piagapo, Lanao del Sur.
The three (3) surrenderees have been brought with them their respective high powered firearms as follows: One (1) M16 rifle with one (1) magazine and one (1) Col.45.
BGen Cuerpo II expressed concerns for the assurance of the safety of the DI-MG surrenderees. Cuerpo emphasized that each life saved from the violent influence of the terrorist is a worthy undertaking. The 103rd infantry (HARIBON) Brigade along with the local government of Lanao del Sur also encouraged the other rebels who joined the DI-MG terrorist group to return to the folds of the law and reunite with their families and loved ones. Finally, in a message to the surrenderees, “kaming mga kasundaluhan ay handa namin kayong tanggapin para sa kapayapaan nang inyong sarili, pamilya at nang probinsya ng Lanao del Sur “ said BGen Cuerpo II.
