LGU and Military hosts medical mission in Munai town

Munai, Lanao del Norte (January 24, 2016) – It was a clear weathered Sunday, a group of medical volunteers from Iligan City headed towards Munai to conduct medical mission good for a day.  The said activity was spearheaded and organized by the 15th Infantry Battalion (IB), headed by Lt. Col. Leomar Jose Doctolero, the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion headed by Lt. Col. Clemencia and the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade headed by Col. Gilbert Gapay. This project was in cooperation with the Local Government of LGU of Munai, headed by Hon. Muamar Maquiling, Municipal Mayor and Hon. Casan Maquiling, Municipal Administrator, and the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET) headed by its President, Mr. Rodrigo Rodriguez, Medical Technologist.

In his message, Rodriguez said that planning on this project was conducted for almost a month and will not be possible without the presence of their partners, the military and the Local government of Munai. The medical team was composed of doctors, medical technologists, nurses, massage workers, barbers, and other volunteers. Rodriguez said that Medical technologists will conduct laboratory examination before admission to the doctors to better know the health parameters of a patient. He said that it was the first time they visited Munai and hopefully will continue in some other time in the future.

Army Capt. Victor Leopoldo, Civil-Military Officer (CMO) of the 5th Mechanized infantry Battalion, in his message said that the project was a joint efforts by the multi-stakeholders with active participation from the PAMET group and contributed a big help in the realization of the medical mission project. He said the role of military and police is to maintain the peace and order in the area of Munai. Leopoldo said unity is very important to achieve the goals and objective, the peace and development for a better community. He extended thanks to the Maquiling Leadership in Munai for their all-out support in bringing the government closer to its people and trying their best to deliver the basic services even in the far flung areas.

In his message, Casan Maquiling, represented the office of the Mayor, said he welcomed the PAMET group of coming in Munai for the very first time. He said some other people will be afraid to hear Munai on their belief is not peaceful. He said the people witnessed Munai on this very peaceful day can tell other people about their experienced in Munai. He said that there was an experienced last year about the deworming activities for children by the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Education (DepEd) that the people were panic of the unusual effect of the deworming for children after taking medicine. He said to the people in Munai nothing to worry about the medicines on this medical mission because it is safe and these medicines were being bought locally in the nearby pharmacies in Iligan City.

The Medical services conducted with corresponding number of patients benefited the mission were blood typing with 70 patients, blood sugar testing with 46 patients, distribution of medicine with 161 patients, film showing with an attendance of 50 kids, hair cut had 34 persons, blood pressure service with 129 patients, dental service served 84 patients, body massage served 31 patients, operation tuli (circumcision) had 74 patients, feeding services served 50 kids, gift giving served 65 kids, and ice cream giving served 40 kids.
